The new Station Street Food Co. Organic Grocer has opened, and I must say what a pleasure it is to visit!
On entry you are greeted by the owners Kat and Declan who make you feel instantly welcome. I was there late in the day and wanted some fresh veggies for dinner… but I ended up browsing for 15 minutes and was impressed by the variety of fresh healthy food and other goods.
You can’t help but notice the striking macrame display, hand crafted by Kat at the front of the store and accompanied by a collection of pots and indoor plants.
There is something delicious here for everyone, whether it’s a coffee, daily fresh pastries and sourdough – including gluten free, a freshly made sandwich, soups, dips, smoothies, daily salads, fresh organic fruit and vegetables and more.
So, what did I purchase on my first visit…?
- Creamy Spinach Dip by Continental Cuisine, delicious as an entrée with flatbread.
- Barambah Organics Yoghurt, which is the best yoghurt I have tried in years (reminding me of the pot set yoghurt my grandma made when I was a kid).
- Purple carrots and silverbeet – which I stir-fried with soy and sesame oil, singing with flavour at dinner that evening.
I highly recommend you check out this terrific new addition to Ferntree Gully Village – you will be delighted with what you discover – it may even be a giant avocado also known as the AVOZILLA!
