We may not be able to get out and about much, but there are still a lot of exciting things going on in our community!

Here are some fun virtual events we can look forward to…

24th – 31st Oct: Imaginarium at Burrinja – Children’s Week

Where: Online via Facebook event
Cost: $5 per household

Burrinja invites you to IMAGINARIUM – a virtual playground for children to imagine, discover and create.

IMAGINARIUM is a series of digital workshops & performances for Children’s Week, 2020. From circus, theatre and magic, to craft and Indigenous story time, IMAGINARIUM is bursting and bubbling with creativity.

Burrinja is thrilled to swing open it is virtual doors to a delightful and engaging Children’s Week program for the youngest imagine-a-tors in our community. Through a range of creative, playful and fun interactive virtual experiences we are inviting children of ages 3 to 12 years and their families to fire up their imaginations and get ready to discover, create & play.

Halloween Week will take you on a spooky virtual Halloween journey with FREE live-streamed activities, including frightful decoration making, scary make-up workshops, creepy cooking, wicked live music and chilling storytelling.

Program as follows –

  • Tues 27 Oct, 7.30pm – Halloween Make Up Tutorial (Bride of Frankenstein & Jack-O-Lantern) with Melissa Jayne Artistry
  • Wed 28 Oct, 4.30pm – Halloween Cookie Making Session with Chef Lillie Giang (The Food Affectionist)
  • Thurs 29 Oct, 7.30pm – Halloween Costume Workshop with Bianca Heard
  • Fri 30 Oct, 8pm – Halloween Live in your lounge room – Queen of Hearts Mariachi
  • Sat 31 Oct, 8pm – Spooky Storytelling (thanks to Fab Nobs Theatre Inc, SLAMS MTC and The 1812 Theatre)

Knox Virtual Art Gallery

Knox Arts & Events is excited to launch the virtual Knox Art Collection, a beautiful online gallery that captures over 300 paintings, drawings, ceramics and heritage items collected by Knox City Council over the decades.

To celebrate the launch of the virtual gallery, Knox Council invites you to explore the collection, and let it be a source of inspiration to produce your own works of art at home.

  • Share your creation using #knoxinspired and help build a virtual community gallery.
  • There will be awards offered in a variety of categories.

MDLC Virtual Mondays

Where: Your lounge room!
Cost: Free!

During Term 3 MDLC will be holding a variety of interesting and fun workshops online via Zoom!

  • 12.30pm to 2.30pm: Computers & Coffee Club
    Join Jon to talk everything technology! Computers, mobile phones, iPads, you name it! Open to all levels of digital literacy, the CC Club is a social on-line learning environment, where people are encouraged to share their knowledge, skills and handy tips.
  • 6pm to 8pm: Book Chat Club
    Read a good book recently? Want to share with others? Join Barb via Zoom for a fun interactive online Book Club.

To enrol in either, please complete a Learn Local Enrolment Form and your Tutor will contact you with details and instructions.

Orana – Tuesday Cooking Sessions with Oddie

When: Tuesdays (from 14 July onwards)
Where: Online via Zoom
Time: 10:30 am to 11:30 am
Cost: Free

Look out Curtis Stone, Orana Neighbourhood House has its very own celebrity chef, Oddie! You can tune in each Tuesday and enjoy his online cooking class. These classes are held via Zoom and given they are not pre-recorded, sessions are interactive, engaging and fun! You can even ask Oddie cooking tips and find out where he sources his produce.
