We may not be able to get out and about much, but there are still a lot of exciting things going on in our community!

Here are some fun virtual events we can look forward to…

Kids Kreative – Virtual School Holiday event

When: Wednesday afternoons during July
Time: 4:30pm – 5pm

Are you ready for some virtual fun with Mad About Science these School Holidays? Become a Scientist in your own home!

Program is as follows:

  • Wednesday 1 July at 4:30pm – Crazy Kitchen Chemistry
    Learn about chemistry through everyday items found in the kitchen, from explosive chemical reactions to mesmerising physical changes.
    Stay tuned until the end to participate in a guided, hands-on activity.
  • Wednesday 8 July at 4:30pm – Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!
    Feel the heat with an amazing session covering everything to do with temperature, featuring incredible demonstrations and surprising phenomena.

It’s time to get singing and dancing these School Holidays with SLAMS MTC!
Join in for the below interactive workshops. Program is as follows:

  • Friday 3 July at 4pm – Dance Workshop
    SLAMS Musical Theatre Company will teach kids the basic skills they need to perform a dance number in this FREE online workshop – be ready for them to perform it for you!
  • Friday 10 July at 4pm – Kids Songs
    Come and enjoy a fun filled show, packed full of kids songs and games! This show will have kids up and dancing and singing along in the comfort of your own home.

Knox – Live in your Lounge Room

When: Every Friday night during the month of July

Streaming LIVE from the Knox Community Arts Centre, each Friday night through July Knox Arts will bring you unique unplugged sessions featuring some of our best local singer-songwriters, performing artists and much more – right to your own living room!

Program –

  • Friday 3rd July at 8pm – Renee Taggart
    This talented young local singer/songwriter was winner of the Knox Factor 2018, taking out first place in the 16 – 25 year old age category. With influences spanning multiple genres, Renee believes that the true magic of music is being able to convey a story that everyone can relate to.
  • Friday 10 July at 8pmThe Gami Gami Devils
    Australian born and bred, The Gami Gami Devils are a five-piece band playing country originals and covers with a twist. The boys offer more than just live music, they extend a warm invitation into The Gami Family.
  • Friday 17 July at 8pmPhoebe Bengough
    Phoebe Bengough is a local singer/songwriter, who enjoys immersing herself in the Melbourne music scene, gigging and busking. Her songs tell of heartfelt stories from past experiences, incorporating folk styled, flowing melodies that will leave you wanting more.

MDLC Virtual Classes for Term 3

During Term 3 MDLC will be holding a variety of interesting and fun workshops online via Zoom! Check below for details.

Mondays

Where: Your lounge room!

  • 12.30pm to 2.30pm: Computers & Coffee Club
    Join Jon to talk everything technology! Computers, mobile phones, iPads, you name it! Open to all levels of digital literacy, the CC Club is a social on-line learning environment, where people are encouraged to share their knowledge, skills and handy tips.
  • 6pm to 8pm: Book Chat Club
    Read a good book recently? Want to share with others? Join Barb via Zoom for a fun interactive online Book Club.

To enrol in either, please complete a Learn Local Enrolment Form and your Tutor will contact you with details and instructions.

Knox Virtual Art Gallery

Knox Arts & Events is excited to launch the virtual Knox Art Collection, a beautiful online gallery that captures over 300 paintings, drawings, ceramics and heritage items collected by Knox City Council over the decades.

To celebrate the launch of the virtual gallery, Knox Council invites you to explore the collection, and let it be a source of inspiration to produce your own works of art at home.

  • Share your creation using #knoxinspired and help build a virtual community gallery.
  • There will be awards offered in a variety of categories.
