Local road upgrades continue – including Dorset Road

Message from Alan Tudge, Federal MP for Aston

2021 will see construction begin and progress on many of the projects I committed to at the last election to address congestion and safety, and improve our life as a community.

This includes projects that have been on the drawing board for decades but have never got traction, such as the Dorset Road extension and Napoleon Road duplication.

Although it can be frustrating to see how long these projects take, I am seeing some good progress. A brief update on the progress of each project is:

Dorset Rd extension & Napoleon Rd duplication

$130m in funding is secured. Scoping is underway, with $10m of federal funding already flowing to the state government. Construction is likely to begin in early 2022.

You can find a map of the proposed extension here.
More information about the process here, or Gully News reports here.

Blackwood Park Rd, Ferntree Gully

The widening of the bridge on Blackwood Park Rd is now complete. $130k of federal funding was provided to Knox Council to complete the project.

Henderson Rd Bridge

The bridge is complete, and work on the traffic lights at Kelletts Rd and slip lanes at Ferntree Gully Rd  are scheduled to begin later this year.

Extra carparks at FTG & Boronia stations

$35m is secured. Planning is underway with Knox Council and State Government. Construction is likely to start next year.

Traffic lights on Lewis Rd/ Boronia Rd

Money is in the budget and State Government is conducting pre-planning. Work is expected to start early this year.

Widening of Monash Freeway

Have added an extra $184m, and construction on the next section of Monash Freeway is underway.

Airport Rail Link

Construction of this massive project is to begin in 2022.

East West Link

We are ready to fund the full government share and will never give up until it is built.
