‘Expect the unexpected’, they said, of this first-time family event in the Tim Neville Arboretum on Sunday 16 February. Well, we did – and this is what we wandered into.
Gnomic garden gnomes, cosy in wheelbarrows, mystified tiny children. A very tall fairy blowing bubbles in a leafy dell delighted every age. As did buskers, face painting, music and dance in the amphitheatre, food stalls and picnics on (damp) lawns under leafy trees.
Not too big, not too noisy, mostly young families, perfect sunshine, cool breezes. They came out on foot and on bicycles along the winding trails that form a network around Knox’s best park.
Congratulations and thanks to Tanya, Elly, Stephanie and all at Knox Council’s Events and Leisure for luring us into what will surely become an annual event.
