The theme for NAIDOC Week this year is ‘our Elders’. This is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the amazing contribution our First Nations Elders make in our community.

Knox Councillor Susan Laukens reports that she had the pleasure of attending two events with Ricky Baldwin, Gunaikurnai man and 2023 Knox Citizen of the Year. The first was at the Acknowledgement of Country where she spoke to new Australian Citizens and also at the Knox Basketball NAIDOC game.

Both occasions gave an opportunity to learn about our first Nations stories and culture.

During NAIDOC Week photographer Barbara Oehring took photographs in Belgrave.

The Wominjeka welcome sign is prominent in Belgrave as it is in other Ranges townships.
