Changes underway at Quarry Park

Upgrades to Quarry Park have recently been completed, including a new playground, ready for us all to enjoy. And we did, for a few weeks until lockdown intervened.

As well as the playground the works include a sandpit, BBQ and undercover picnic areas. There is a new viewing platform over the lake and surrounding park, and fishing platforms by the water thanks to a grant from Fisheries Victoria.

The play equipment will unfortunately be out of bounds for a while, but next time you’re out for a walk why not head along and check out the changes? We are so lucky here in the Gully to have so many incredible places at our doorsteps.

‘I am so proud of what is being accomplished there,’ says Mayor Nicole Seymour. ‘The natural surrounds are stunning and incredibly peaceful, even with lots of people around. This is a real treasure of Knox.’

There is still some work to be done – with Knox Council working with the State and Federal Governments to provide additional facilities and amenities.

As part of the next stage of upgrades, public toilets and extra parking will be added by 2021. At present it’s very tricky to get a carpark, with people parking in surrounding suburban streets instead.

Did you know? The council had also employed some goats to take over weed control. This is not only good for the environment, but keeps the goats happy as well.

There is also a new viewing lookout towards the city skyline set to come by 2022.
