A new era will open for Knoxbrooke following the sale in October of their four acre site at 977 Burwood Highway Ferntree Gully for $6.4m to a private school.
The sale follows a wonderful 50 years for Knoxbrooke as a day service site for adults with a disability. With the emergence of the NDIS transforming the way in which people with disabilities access support, Knoxbrooke has now been able to respond directly to the needs and wishes of clients and their families by introducing a new ‘Basecamp’ model of service.
Knoxbrooke’s new Basecamps are located at Wally Tew Reserve, Lyndale Court Ferntree Gully, Bill Wilkins Lodge, Rosewarne Lane Ringwood and Eildon Park, Tyers Crescent Rowville in partnership with the local sporting clubs who manage the facilities.
Each Basecamp is closer to home and managed by a small professional team who are responsible for all day to day operations and activities including one–to-one
support after hours.
Basecamps provide participants with greater choice, opportunity and true community inclusion.
Knoxbrooke also offers ‘365 Services’ that is one-to-one in-home or community support every day of the year, and Extras, offering small group weekend recreation and leisure activities and independent living skills.
Knoxbrooke’s Head Office will move to Ringwood in December 2019, with the Burwood Highway property being handed over to the private school in June 2020.
Knoxbrooke continues to provide quality services for people with a disability and has recently expanded to regional Victoria with the addition of the Warragul-based disability service Mawarra.
