New year – new look

In our first issue for 2017 you will notice some new features.

Firstly design, with changes to type fonts and sizes for a fresh look and to make better use of space. Comments are welcome.

Also, for this issue at least, more advertising. With less community news coming in over the holidays, we can take more ads without exceeding our ‘two thirds news and one third advertising’ policy. It is also because we need to keep the paper on a good financial footing. While volunteers freely provide content and distribution, income from advertisements and sponsors is crucial in meeting production costs. Please support these local businesses.

We also plan to introduce regular reports on Knox Council meetings. The long established Rowville-Lysterfield Community News has a regular column giving a précis of council decisions that relate to their area. They find their readers welcome this, if only as a guide through the complexity of the minutes on the Council website. Offers of help with such a report are welcome.

Overall our aim, if you like, our bias, is to publish material that builds and connects community.

The community is Ferntree Gully.
