News from Mountain District Learning Centre

Mountain District Learning Centre (MDLC) has successfully received State Government Youth Fest funding for a fantastic initiative supporting young people experiencing severe social anxiety and related mental health challenges. They’ll deliver two social engagement events, helping young people build confidence, connection, and community.

Cutting the ribbon at the Oak Den Launch

With the onset of winter, our garden at MDLC has taken on a different look. Lots of work has been done to revamp the garden beds and of course the annual pruning. The chicken coop will be slowly built over the next few months and all will be in readiness for the Makers Market on Saturday 29 November.

We would like to welcome our Croydon students who are coming to MDLC for the third term. It’s a great opportunity to get to know them and we hope they settle in well.

The Oak Tree Den launch by Daniela De Martino MP for Monbulk and Mary Doyle MP for Aston attending, took place with some fanfare and cutting of the ribbon. The building is put to good use by the Mountain District Men’s Group, volunteers and students alike.

Local men who would like to make new friends and perhaps have a laugh, are welcome to join the Mountain District Men’s Group. They meet on the First and Third Tuesday of each month at 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Men interested in joining the Group can call the Office on 9758 7859.

We are also busy planning events such as Women’s Health Week, 1 -5 September, and of course Seniors Week in October. Keep an eye out for activities so you can engage in them.
