Belgrave Survival Day

March 12, 2023

The organisers of Belgrave Survival Day are changing the date of the event from 26 January to Sunday 12 March. This festival, started in 2008, celebrates the survival of Indigenous people, culture and heritage.

This year’s festival will be a scaled back festival, small in size, but bigger in heart and impact. The festival will continue to feature live music, ceremony, dance, storytelling, market stalls and education offerings, all in support of our First Peoples and their ongoing connection to culture and place.

A statement from The Belgrave Survival Day

Committee says that the new date will offer greater opportunity for local involvement. They hope that this decision, not an easy one, will re-connect and re-ignite the festival.

The committee thank all who have contributed over the years, including, volunteers, performers, vendors and the community for their support. They make a plea
to keep Belgrave Survival Day running: ‘We need you. Please step up as a volunteer or join the Survival Day committee. Have your say. Help us to work together with the Kulin Nation to keep this Festival going.’
