For many families across Knox, Christmas can be a time of worry rather than joy. The Knox Community Christmas Support (KCCS) project is once again stepping in to change that, bringing festive food, gifts, and a sense of hope to households doing it tough across the Knox area.
Now in its 16th year, KCCS is a true community effort designed to ensure every family can celebrate Christmas with dignity. The project supports people in Knox experiencing financial hardship, job loss, health issues, or the ever-rising cost of living.
Last year, KCCS supported 812 people, including 299 children who received quality gifts thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses. But demand has grown sharply. Knox Infolink reports a 33% increase in emergency relief requests and a 72% rise in housing stress cases across the region. Each household registered with KCCS receives a festive food hamper and can select toys and gifts for their children from a wide range of donated items.
