Angliss Hospital rises to new heights

The Angliss Hospital in Upper Ferntree Gully has come a long way since December 1939 when Sir William Angliss opened a 10 bed Bush Hospital.

Attending the recent topping out ceremony of a new wing are State MPs Daniela de Martino and Jackson Taylor together with the Minister for Health Infrastructure, Melissa Horne.

Building works progressing well and ICU reopened

From Daniela De Martino MP

I was delighted to join Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne and Member for Bayswater, Jackson Taylor MP, to celebrate the topping out of the new four-storey hospital building.

Once complete, this project will deliver 32 new inpatient beds, four operating theatres and expanded outpatient services. It’s a huge leap forward in ensuring our community has access to world-class healthcare facilities, close to home.

Following this milestone, I know locals will be pleased to know that on 1 July the Angliss’ ICU officially reopened ahead of schedule, following its temporary closure to allow for safe construction works. Thanks to the staff and community for their patience during this time.
