Permanent winter wonderland for Ferntree Gully Village

By Karin Orpen

Residents will shortly see works commencing on the installation of 6000 fairy lights lighting up ten trees, transforming our Ferntree Gully Village into a year round winter wonderland.

The installation is fully funded by the Community Bank Ferntree Gully, and is a thank-you to the local community for their support since the bank commenced almost 25 years ago.

โ€˜We believe this area of Knox has so much potential and we have been inspired by the various wall art and light installations recently installedโ€™, Chairman Des Higginbotham said. โ€˜We want to make the Village a vibrant destination for families and the broader community to enjoyโ€™.

Finance Director,ย Etienne Clauw said the Bank has shown its commitment to the area, providing services since commencing in the Village in 2000.ย โ€˜We are invested in the Ferntree Gully Village and we want to see it thriveโ€™, he said. โ€˜We hope that inspires others to update and invest in this unique shopping centre with its Dandenong Ranges backdrop.โ€™ย

The installation is 100% solar and will light the ten trees from dusk,ย for five hours each evening in the Station Street and Forest Road restaurant areas.ย ย ย ย

Knox Councilโ€™s Infrastructure department were approached for permission to undertake the installations and are assisting with some of the traffic management requirements whilst works take place.

A community invite will be extended later via the Bankโ€™s Facebook page to celebrate the installations at a date to be advised.ย ย ย
