As dawn light begins to show over the mountain\, the opportunity is taken to remember those service men and women from Ferntree Gully and Upper Gully who gave their lives during the wars in which Australia has participated. There is an opportunity to lay a wreath during the short service. St Joseph’s College Choir will lead the National Anthem. \nArrival is at 5.45 am for a 6.00 am start. You are requested to bring a torch and chair if needed. DESCRIPTION:The organisers of Belgrave Survival Day are changing the date of the event from 26 January to Sunday 12 March. This festival\, started in 2008\, celebrates the survival of Indigenous people\, culture and heritage. \nThis year’s festival will be a scaled back festival\, small in size\, but bigger in heart and impact. The festival will continue to feature live music\, ceremony\, dance\, storytelling\, market stalls and education offerings\, all in support of our First Peoples and their ongoing connection to culture and place. \nA statement from The Belgrave Survival Day \nCommittee says that the new date will offer greater opportunity for local involvement. They hope that this decision\, not an easy one\, will re-connect and re-ignite the festival. \nThe committee thank all who have contributed over the years\, including\, volunteers\, performers\, vendors and the community for their support. DESCRIPTION:The annual Ferntree Gully Food Trail\, run by the Ferntree Gully Village Traders Association\, will be launched in August 2022. \nThis will be the second food trail run by the Traders Association and will include new activities and great deals at many of our local traders. \nDuring Victoria’s Covid lockdowns\, Anne Boyd was trying to think how to help the traders in Ferntree Gully and bring some foot traffic back to the precinct. How could we do this during a lockdown? A big event such as a Village Fair could not be staged. Anne thought that maybe a Food Trail would work. Knox City Council supported the idea and the Annual Food Trail was born. \nThis year the food trail will be similar in format. To join in the fun\, you will pick up a Food Map\, visit a participating trader and collect one of their stamps to benefit from their offer. A social media campaign on Instagram and Facebook will also be run. \nWe had 19 Traders join the trail last year – all with terrific offers such as discounted meals or a free drink. This year we are looking forward to welcoming both established and new traders to the trail to join in the fun. \nHow to walk the Food Trail\nPick up your Food Connects Us brochure at participating Traders or print off a copy here.\nUse the Map to visit traders and collect your stamps. \nOnce you have collected three stamps you can enter the draw to win one of two $100 Bunnings vouchers. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Belgrave Lantern Festival puts all of Belgrave on the map\, taking festival revelers on a self-led journey across and around the entire township. ‘Activated’ spaces and creative precinct ‘pop ups’ appear in streets\, alleyways\, arcades\, nooks and crannies\, featuring art\, music\, workshops\, circus arts\, DJ’s\, bands\, solo artists\, food trucks\, fire-pits and more. \nLast year’s ‘re-imagined’ lantern pivot\, which saw shop fronts transformed into luminous lantern exhibits\, verified that the hills community is an undaunted\, creative and tenacious mob\, prepared to do whatever it takes to keep the glow in our streets\, and in our hearts\, burning bright. This spirit sets the tone and inspiration for 2022. \nBelgrave will again become a literal and figurative beacon of light\, levity and celebration across the hills this year. On June 25\, The Belgrave Lantern Festival will splash down! So\, will there be lantern-making workshops in the lead up? Absolutely. DESCRIPTION:For the last two years\, Covid has caused the cancellation of the popular and very moving dawn ANZAC Day service at the Quarry. \nFerntree Gully CFA members and the Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully are working together to once again allow this wonderful service to resume. \nArrival at the Quarry at 5:45 am will allow the service to begin at 6:00 am. Parking in nearby streets is limited and it is suggested that those attending should park in Ferntree Gully Village area. \nPlease bring a torch and if needed\, a fold-up chair. \n

DESCRIPTION:Sri Vakrathunda Vinayagar Temple (Basin Hindu Temple) cordially invites you\, your family and friends to celebrate Mahotsavam 2022. This is the 30th anniversary year of the Temple\, making this year’s Mahotsavam extra special for the Temple and all its devotees. \nA Mahotsavam is a very significant event for Hindus. This one will involve a procession through The Basin streets. It will be colourful and will honour the main deity of the temple\, the elephant-headed god. A statue of him will be carried in a chariot. He has many names including Ganesha or Vinayagar (which is the name of the temple). \n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you all across the 10-day festival. A detailed schedule will be published shortly.

The course also teaches the ability to identify hazards. The main goal of the program is to develop a child’s ability to ride safely and independently. \nBike Ed fulfills our commitment to get more children on bicycles.
