DESCRIPTION:Sri Vakrathunda Vinayagar Temple (Basin Hindu Temple) cordially invites you\, your family and friends to celebrate Mahotsavam 2022. This is the 30th anniversary year of the Temple\, making this year’s Mahotsavam extra special for the Temple and all its devotees. \nA Mahotsavam is a very significant event for Hindus. This one will involve a procession through The Basin streets. It will be colourful and will honour the main deity of the temple\, the elephant-headed god. A statue of him will be carried in a chariot. He has many names including Ganesha or Vinayagar (which is the name of the temple). \n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you all across the 10-day festival. DESCRIPTION:For the last two years\, Covid has caused the cancellation of the popular and very moving dawn ANZAC Day service at the Quarry. \nFerntree Gully CFA members and the Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully are working together to once again allow this wonderful service to resume. \nArrival at the Quarry at 5:45 am will allow the service to begin at 6:00 am. Parking in nearby streets is limited and it is suggested that those attending should park in Ferntree Gully Village area. \nPlease bring a torch and if needed\, a fold-up chair. \n
