DESCRIPTION:NAIDOC Week is being celebrated from 3-10 July 2022. This year’s theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’ \nNAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Each year NAIDOC Week celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history\, culture and achievements. \nGetting Up\, Standing Up\, and Showing Up can take many forms. We need to move beyond just acknowledgement\, good intentions\, empty words and promises\, and hollow commitments. Enough is enough. \nThe relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians needs to be based on justice\, equity\, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights. \nFind out more about what is happening near you.
